From the Editor: February 2005
Britain’s hardest-hitting motorboat magazine
OK, I know what you’re thinking. The editor has lost the plot and turned your favourite magazine into Sealine World.
After all, last month we ran a competition to give away a Sealine S25, as well as an owner’s report on an F34. And this month we are publishing the exclusive inside story of the new S29. As you will soon discover, Sealine didn’t entirely disgrace themselves in the inaugural MBM Awards either…
As a result, I am already steeling myself for the accusations of editorial bias that are bound to come my way from rival boatbuilders, the aficionados of other makes and anyone else with an axe to grind. So much so that, when the votes for our Boat Of The Year came in, for a fleeting moment I considered overruling the jury and fixing a different result.
But that would have been a complete injustice to the company concerned. Even more importantly, it would have been the wrong way to treat you, our readers.
Believe it or not, I couldn’t give a flying fish what Sealine International or their rivals make of our choice of award winners, but I do care very deeply about giving you the best possible advice. That, and that alone, is why we have selected the winners that we have.
As for running a development story on the most innovative new sportscruiser of the year…well you would, wouldn’t you? And I can’t imagine anybody’s going to be too upset about winning an S25. In fact, if any other manufacturers would like to give away one of their boats through this magazine, I am only too happy to oblige.
So apologies if, like me, you are feeling a tad Sealine-sick. Normal service will resume next month.
