Welcome to MBM Sept
So there we were, moored in a beautiful bay looking towards the white sands of a picture-postcard beach. We'd spent the day cruising under a sweltering sun, watching the untouched coastline go past, and the fins of sharks and dolphins occasionally popping through the flat, mirror-like surface of the deep blue waters. Now, at the end of a perfect day, we were drying off after a long, leisurely swim. Then Neale turned to me and said, "Not bad for the West Country, is it?" I'm sure all the readers who joined us for the MBM Western Cruise would agree with the sentiment. You can read all about the experience in next month's issue, but I couldn't resist mentioning it now. Solid proof that you don't need to swan off to the Med in a gigantic superyacht to get the very best from boating - everything you need is right here. Enough of my smugness, though. As I write, the rain is back, the suntan has faded, and the only really lasting reminder of the trip is an embarrassing photo on the MBM forum. It's time to look forward, not back, and that's why this month we've been thinking ahead to the Southampton International Boat Show, with a full preview of what we reckon will be the stars of the show. Turn to page 56 to see the first photos of the best new boats, as well as our tips for getting the most from your visit. Even if you're not planning on visiting the show, there's loads more to see in this issue. Hope you like it.
