From the Editor: April 2006
When I was on the panel of judges for the IPC Media Marine Awards in January, we had to pick a 'Propulsion system of the year'. And, to be honest, it wasn't too difficult to choose the winner - Volvo's IPS propulsion system was the most innovative step forward for years.

But we live in exciting times, and nothing stands still for long. This month we have the exclusive first test of 'Project Zeus', Cummins MerCruiser's response to IPS. The company has dispensed with Volvo's forward-facing props in the hope that take-up will be quicker than it has been for Volvo, and its designers have added one or two new features too.

We were delighted to be the first UK magazine to get its hands on the system - and you can read what we thought on page 26. There's only one piece of bad news: 'Project Zeus' is unlikely to hit the market before June 2007, so we won't be saying goodbye to shafts quite yet...

Before I sign off, there's just time to say thank you for your response to MBM's new look. We were delighted to receive positive letters and emails from new and existing readers, and now we've also seen the sales figures. January's issue sold over 25% more than December's, so thank you to everyone who picked it up.

We are already the best-selling motorboat magazine in the UK, but we're committed to making this magazine better than ever.
Thank you for your support.

Simon Collis, 20 March 2006
