Prada Challenge conceded defeat and withdrew from the quarter-finals giving Alinghi the last race on a plate. This allows Alinghi to move on directly to the semi-finals to meet Oracle.

The quarter-finals was a best of seven series after which the two teams that lost were eliminated. These were Le Defi Areva and GBR Challenge.

One World and Prada lost their matches in the top group and now drop down to race the winners of the bottom group, Victory Challenge and Team Dennis Conner in the repechage.
