What's on for Sunday at Cowes?

If you want to get closer to the action, climb aboard the Timberland RIB for a trip out to the start line as today's racing gets underway. Timberland is offering the trip for £10 per adult and £5 for kids. The RIB will be setting off from Cowes Yacht Haven all week from 10:30 to 16:30.

Olympic and World rowing champion, Matthew Pinsent will be out on the water today in Farr 45 John Merricks, skippered by fellow Olympic medallist - Ben Ainslie, so look out for them as they take off this morning in IRC1 starting at 11:10.

If you've always watched but never taken part in the sailing at Skandia Cowes Week you can now try it for free. Skandia in association with UKSA are continuing their Try Sailing scheme all week where a qualified instructor will show you the basics and supply all of the kit that you need. There are limited places so book early either at the Try Sailing/Skandia stand on the parade, or go to the Sail 4 Cancer stand at the other end of town in Cowes Yacht Haven.

The Row 4 Cancer Concept II Challenge continues at Shephards Wharf as does as the Lewmar Sail 4 Cancer winch grinding challenge at Cowes Yacht Haven. Best time of the day wins a bottle of Mumm Champagne and the best time of the week will be presented with a magnum.

At the parade village, there will be bands playing all day and look out for the stilt walkers as you wander round town.

This evening between 19:00 and 19:15 the action turns to the skies with an aerial display by a famous Spitfire MH434 in a unique display in honour of the 60th anniversary of the end of WWII.

Later on tonight, the yacht haven will be rocking to the sound of the Groovie Movie Band and there is also a free comedy night on at Northwood House.

With so much going on, whether sailing or not, you can really get involved.
