What's happening Tuesday in Cowes

Skandia is again offering the opportunity for the public to try sailing for free. If you've only ever watched from the shore and want to feel more involved in the regatta, head down to the Skandia Try Sailing stand in the Skandia Parade Village, or the Gipsy Moth IV stand in Cowes Yacht Haven.

Why not climb aboard the Timberland RIB for a ride out to the start line to catch all the action as more than 1,000 boats set sail for the day? The RIB rides cost £5 for kids and £10 for adults and set off from Cowes Yacht Haven from Berth S6.

The Sail 4 Cancer winch grinding and rowing challenges continue today at Shepherds Wharf. Atlantic rowers Richard Maydon-White and Liz O'Keefe will be on hand to give help and advice on how to set the fastest time over the 290m course. The best time of the day wins a bottle of Mumm champagne and there's a magnum on offer for the fastest time of the week. Or pitch yourself against other competitors in the Lewmar Sail 4 Cancer Winch Grinding Challenge at the Sail 4 Cancer stand in the Yacht Haven where the same prizes are on offer to those grinding the winches.

Look to the skies from 16:00 to see Bear Grylls and The Navy Raiders sky diving display. For the best view make your way to Princes Green where the high flyers will be landing at approximately 16:30 (weather permitting).

If you are not heading to one of the many of the class association parties tonight, visit the Yacht Haven where Monster Blondie tribute band will be taking to the stage to rock the party. If you fancy a change of scene, why not spend the evening at the other end of town - the Skandia Parade Village where Cowes favourite, the Accelerators will get the party started at around 20:00.
