Another early alarm call for the MBM staff aboard Calm Voyager. At 0730 Claire and Ray departed Cherbourg bound for St Vaast aboard Time Flies, their job to assess the sea conditions out off the Point de Barfleur. Apart from overfalls from the changing tide and a little more wind than yesterday they reported the sea condition as being flat. Boats departed Cherbourg with the East going tide. Formanda again was the first to leave and reported 13 knots on the speed log.
At 0900, Time Flies found the tidal gate already open at St Vaast. The boats were all due in at 1100 so there was no time to waste for Ray and Claire to clear and allocate spaces on reserved B pontoon and neighbouring finger berths. With some careful planning the fleet were all secure by midday.
Blessed with high temperatures, bright sunshine and blue skies for the rest of the day, everyone seems very happy to be here, with many crews venturing off into the town to explore their new surroundings. The fleet will be here for three nights. St Vaast has been described as a cross between a quaint fishing port and a modern marina. When evening came most crews chose to sample the local cuisine in the harbour side restaurants. Claire's Chilli con Carne was on the menu aboard Calm Voyager tonight.
