Prize winning concept boat
A futuristic concept boat has won first prize in the IDA 2007 Design Competition. Volitan is designed to be as eco-friendly as possible, using a mixture of sails, wind power and podded engines, the latter driven by solar powered batteries.

Drs Hakan Gürsu & Sözüm Doğan from Turkish design bureau Designnobis said operation of the boat would be computer controlled throughout. It would be able to operate safely in up to 60-knot winds, and would live up to its name which means 'flying fish'.
