Sam Davies, one of the British yachtswomen competing in the Artemis Transat, has described how she wiped out in 30 knots of breeze last night. "Last night I did a little wipe out, big waves, gusts at 27 knots, I took this as a warning. I've put the gennaker on. It's actually quite nice now, but still 22 knots of speed this morning, I'm being really careful, I make sure i'm clipped on when I manoeuvre. These boats are dangerous, everything happens so quickly"
Meanwhile on Safran Frenchman Marc Guillemot suspects he may have broken a rib. "I crash gybed. I had the mast in the water, it took me 25 minutes to clear everything up. When I cooled down a bit I realised that I felt a strong pain... My rib might be broken, I don't know yet but anyway even if it is there's nothing to do about it. I'm not considering pulling out for the moment. I really want to go to Boston..."
Currently, Yann Elies in Generali is in the lead, closely followed by Foncia, PRB and BT. Expect to see frequent position changes over the next few days as this tightly packed group toussle for pole position.
Meanwhile in the Class 40s the positions are staying much the same.
