Goering's yacht for sale
Hermann Goering's yacht has come up for sale near the Egyptian beach resort of El Gouna on the Red Sea. Among the white plastic gin palaces visible from the beaches, Carin II, a 90ft (27m) teak motor cruiser built in 1937, sits at her anchor, an uncomfortable sight to German holiday-makers. Unlike 'Hitler’s yacht', ceremoniously scuttled in 1989 off the Miami coast despite her sketchy provenance, she could soon be on her way to a restoration. She’s being offered for sale by American owner Sandra Simpson at $295,000 through NAZI memorabilia website, www.pzg.biz. Considering the boat would need a thorough restoration costing hundreds of thousands of pounds, the price is high, a reflection of her controversial history.
