Sailing schoolboy finds more jobs

Sailing schoolboy Mike Perham is finding more jobs need doing aboard his Open 50, Totallymoney.com

The engine needs a new impeller and block seals. And still the rogue autopilot has not been fixed.

The sixteen-year-old who is in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, set out from Falmouth on 18 November hoping to be the youngest person to sail non-stop and solo around the world. But he has already made one stop at Cascais, in Portugal. He said on his website yesterday that he now hopes to sail non-stop from Gran Canaria to Gran Canaria.

But time is ticking away.

See YM's January issue for a major profile on the youthful sailor.
