2012 Round Britain powerboat race

A fourth Round Britain offshore powerboat race to coincide with the London Olympics in 2012 is expected to be announced during the London Boat Show .

This follows the success of the third circumnavigation in 2008, an event attracting a new generation of competitors keen to revive genuine offshore racing in open waters. However, unlike the three earlier events in 1969, 1984 and 2008, the race is expected to start and finish in London.

Its organisers also aim to set a course round the top of Scotland instead of using a lay-day passing through the Caledonian Canal between Fort William and Inverness
