Med seminar at the Cruising Association

The Cruising Association is holding an all-day open seminar on Mediterranean cruising on 1 March 2009 at their headquarters in Limehouse, London.

For £25 (£30 for non-members), boat owners can take part in question and answer sessions following presentations by the CA panel of experts, enjoy a lunch, then seek info and advice from 'help desks' manned by experts on countries, regions and topics in the afternoon.

Topics include routes, harbours and berthing opportunities to safety issues for short-handed crews (often husband and wife); government regulations and recommended spares and equipment.

The one-day seminar has developed a successful 10-year series of shorter evening meetings organised by the Mediterranean Section of the Cruising Association.

Favourable hotel rates and Saturday night food and entertainment is also being arranged for those travelling from outside London.

The Mediterranean Section of the CA has more than 550 boat names on its mailing list, covering at least twice as many individuals.

The Cruising Association, which celebrated its centenary in 2008, has 3,500 members world-wide and a network of more than 200 Local Representatives in the main cruising areas around the world.

It aims to supplement the benefits available from a local yacht club, and promotes cruising in all types of leisure craft. A developing Information Centre includes a library of 10,500 books, a cruise planning section, and information available electronically. The CA website allows members access to specialised forums and the ability to download publications and other cruising information.
