YDSA

Boat Details

This is a ‘Go anywhere, anytime, 4 season’ world girdling family cruiser. An Ocean crossing yacht that will see you and your family safe in any conditions. She is a heavy cruiser (30 tons laden with stores) live aboard with ample space for 5/6 people on extended passage.

This is not a cheap plastic fantastic production yacht that leans over at the slightest puff of wind, or falls apart in a seaway, but rather a solid beast that stays upright and eats up the miles. She has heavy, thick structural marine ply bulk heads (old style marine ply, not the cheap stuff of today), a very strong heavy hull, 7 tons of pure lead medium length keel , heavy standing rigging (mostly 12 mm stainless) and heavy Sail Spar masts and booms (ketch rigged). Everything on this boat is rugged, with lots of inbuilt redundancy.

This boat was built by the owner of Royden Yachts for his retirement circumnavigation and as such no expense was spared. Internally the she has beautifully hand crafted solid teak fittings, saloon, Masters Cabin, crew cabins, Nav table, Galley – all with beautiful teak joinery and heavy wood flooring – luxurious but strong as an ox and built to last.

Owing to ill health the owners circumnavigation never happened. So the yacht has actually done very few miles, probably less than 5,000.

The hull was laid down by Colvics and is the Victor 50 hull shape.

PROPULSION and MECHANICAL

Twin 4 cylinder 75 HP Leyland diesels (yes, thats correct, the yacht has two diesel engines delivering 150HP in total – another example of redundancy being built in)

If one engine were to go down, you have a back up to get you home.

That also means you have two shafts and two large bronze propellars. Although the yacht does have a Sleipner bow thruster, you can manoeuvre the yacht on a sixpence with the twin screw controls.

Bow Thruster, 10 HP Sleipner

Large semi walk in engine room, with 360 degree access to the engines and stern gear. Oil and filter changes are a doddle as is any kind of engine repair and maintenance.

Fuel Tank 600 litres (GRP), supplying two 'day tanks', one for each engine - having day tanks is the very best way to avoid dirty/water fuel issues.

Fresh Water tank 600 litres (GRP)

IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE THE YACHT COMES WITH A HUGE INVENTORY OF RIGGING, WARPS, SHACKLES, BLOCKS AND SPARE PARTS AND REPAIR ITEMS.

You could be stuck on an island in the South Pacific and pretty much fix and repair anything on board.
