This Camper & Nicholson ketch motor-sailer is presented to the market in very nice condition.  These boats have an exceptional reputation for high quality craftmanship, superb design and is recognised as an ideal yacht to explore the Western Isles of Scotland.  Several have completed round the world voyages.  Ilmatar has been lovingly maintained by her current owner of 8 years and she has benefitted from many upgrades including a new BETA engine in 2016 and new sails in 2014.  Early viewing is highly recommended.

Hull and Construction

Designed by John Alden and built by Camper & Nicholson in 1968 Ilmatar has had only 3 owners from new.  The hull is in white GRP and the deck is in green GRP with a white GRP superstructure.  She has a traditional full keel with encapsulated lead ballast, a single piece GRP rudder which is hung from the keel and wheel steering in a coverred centre cockpit.

6 berths in total in 3 cabins including the saloon.  6 single berths with Webasto heating and the interior is finished in teak.

Forward cabin has 2 single berths in "V" and ample storage space and access to the anchor chain locker.

Forward heads compartment is to stbd betweem the forward cabin and saloon.  Comprising Lavac marine toilet (new 2015) washbasin with hot & cold pressurised water and a shower.

Saloon features a folding leaf table and horseshoe seating to stbd which converts to a single berth.  Single settee berth to port.  Excellent storage facilities throughout the saloon in various lockers, drawers and in shelving.

"L" shaped galley is to port aft in the saloon with a 2 burner Nelson Spinflo gas oven and grill (new 2014), stainless steel sink with hot & cold pressurised water and an Isotherm fridge.

Covered centre cockpit with wheel steering and engine throttle controls to port and canvas zip sides.  Access to the engine under the cockpit sole.

Aft Cabin which is accessed at the rear of the cockpit and comprises 2 single berths and a heads to port with Jabsco sea toilet and the wash basin with hot & cold pressurised water is at the stern of the cabin between the berths.  There is good storage in the aft cabin and access to the stern gear.


Powered by a BETA 43hp 4 cylinder inboard marine diesel engine with shaft drive to a 3 blade fixed prop.
