[PRICE GOING UP SOON - reduced for a quick sale over the Christmas/NY period, price going back up again soon]
The Beneteau First 305 is usually described as a fast family cruiser/racer, and I think that's a pretty good description. I bought Xaloha in 2013, primarily to learn to sail singlehanded. I wanted to master the challenge of sailing alone, and also not to be dependent upon crew — to be able to just jump in and go sailing any time I fancied.

Xaloha has done a wonderful job for me, and is easy to sail singlehanded or with crew. She's quite fast for her size, and comfortable & pleasant down below (when I was looking, I found most boats of this era/price were dark, dank, and cramped below — Xaloha is very nice, like a newer boat with lots of wood).

The previous owner took her to Portugal and the South of France, during a year's liveaboard adventure with two young children, so she has ample space for a couple and two small children. Being quite fast, she's pretty good at passagemaking too.

I renewed all the standing rigging when I bought her in 2013, and apart from normal maintenance, the only change I have made is to install midships cleats (essential for singlehanded berthing!).

She has got some headlining sagging, which I've never got around to doing anything about, as it's not really a problem. If you did want to fix this, rather than going for a full headlining replacement, you could do a very economical refit by installing some battens/teak panels in the problem areas for a fraction of the cost.

She comes with a lot of kit including dinghy, outboard, Plotter, AIS, Eberspacher hot-air central heating (wonderful!), autohelm, new 4-man valise liferaft (2015), holding tank, hand-held VHF, spinnaker & pole. I can supply a full equipment list, and detailed sales particulars on request.

And she has a proper chart table!

Here is the agent's blurb from when I bought her:

"Xaloha is a great example of the popular jean Berret designed Beneteau First 305 from 1987. Her deep fin keel makes a perfect choice for fast family cruising, or club racing if desired. This example has been fitted out to a high spec as the owner purchased her to take his family for an extended cruise from Scotland to the Med and back via Ireland and The Scillies.

Large owner's aft cabin to port with a generous L-shaped galley further forward with oven, grill, and two burner stove and agood amount of working surface with twin sinks on the peninsular galley top. Opposite there is a large chart table/navigation station and then forward are two comfortable settees/bunks, and then a double bunk in the forecabin. The interior is roomy and well thought-out, giving the feeling that you are on a 32 footer rather than a smaller boat."

Any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch. Can be viewed in Gosport Marina, Portsmouth.
