A man fell overboard a dinghy after it capsized off Hill Head on Sunday. He was sailing with his two teenage daughters when he was thrown into the water.
One of the dinghies was returned to shore so the two daughters could try and rescue their dad together.
Calshot RNLI were alerted when a passerby saw the capsize. By the time the all weather and inshore lifeboats reached him, the man was suffering from hypothermia.
Deputy second coxswain Mark Laughlin said: "The man was very lucky that the alarm was raised by a member of the public who saw the incident and the swift action by his daughters. With the sea temperature at around 8 degrees and the wind near gale force and the time that he spent in the water his condition could have been much worse.'
