View Full Version : Cheap mooring in France ?

We are hoping to move near Poitiers ,Mid west France in the near future.
We have a 23' shallow draft sailing cruiser moored in the Fal estuary, Cornwall. She is usually wintered on her legs on a beach berth at Penryn.
I am looking for similar facilities on the west coast of France, possibly near La Rochelle.
I have visited the canals near Coulon ( east of La Rochelle) and wondered about a berth there , as there must be access to the sea.
It may pay me to get a trailer to winter her at my new french home.
Any suggestions ?

Have you thought of "Marans" up the Sevre Niortaise north-west of La Rochelle? Inland, on a canal that connects by river to L'Anse de l'Aiguillon - only been there so far by road but it is said to be the cheapest for berthing in France! We've just wintered in Rochefort south-east of La Rochelle and mean to go to Marans later this season. Lots of French boats on drying moorings all over with/without legs. Annual pontoon berth at Rochefort c.£600 for 32` inc. water & electricity & showers.

What depth do you have on your pontoon mooring Rochefort please?

Try Marans, up the Sevre-Niortaise.

Year before last it cost me FF252/month for a 10m boat, pontoon berth, electrics and water thrown in.

A delightful town with delightful people.
