Hugh Marriott, a one-time contributor to this board, reports he has lost his yacht TACIT in Egypt. Sunk by a defective stern gland:

This is extremely sad (but all boats that are lost are sad, anyway) because he was retruninh home having abandoned a world cruise for family reasons.

So sorry, Hugh.

that doesn't sound either cliched or insincere.

But I'm surprised if the boat was just flooded that everything is written off. There must be many a boat sunk in the 1987 storm round these parts that are still sailing with the original engine etc.

Sad tale though, whatever the final outcome.

Sorry to read of the loss of Tacit; have always enjoyed Hugh's contributions to YM. Thanks for posting the Cruiser Log URL; I never knew of its existence and have added it to my favourites.
