A proper pub, just like they used to be here about fifty years ago. Still got the mechanical till and the Players Full Strength Dispencer. Dont eat the pies though, they seem to come from the same vintage!! But a great pub. (If you like that sort of thing.) Go to the end of the row for the food, lobster salad or a barbique.

The place is (excuse the pun) a complete dive...crappy decor and that gas chamber atmosphere due to cigarette smoke.

But yeah I agree, there's something about it - I loved it !!

I agree.... Beer is awful (Guernsey Breweries Keg), but it is a living museum, spit and sawdust, darts board, landlady and son who haven't changed in the 10 years or so I have been going to Alderney. I guess its an institution - so you must go.

We were there last weekend and it was shut. Enquiries revealed that, sadly, Eileen is poorly and has been for a while. We can only wish her well -- and hope that this institution will once more be the best pub in Braye.
