Cork

Has anybody got any idea where I can get cork tiles about 12 mm thik(1/2").
I've tried many suppliers with no luck yet.Cheers M.

I am currently fitting out a sandwich 34 foot sailing cruiser in Switzerland to live aboard. I eventually tracked down a supplier of cork. This supplier is based in France and I don't know if he delivers or has distributors in the UK. One interesting thing about this material is that it is agglomerated cork that does not contain any glue; the cork is heated up 'till a sort of natural resin is released wich sticks all the "flakes" together to form a large tile, whence the dark brown colour. I will be ordering 20mm thick cork for the inside insulation of my yacht. Check their website (in french) http://www.ecologis.fr/interf.html . (Cork in french is "liège") I have asked them to send me a sample wich they did. I did several tests, and will finally use a tilling glue wich is based on latex. It remains soft, withstanded being immersed in water for over a months and sticks like...to a blancket. Tilers use this particular glue for areas that move a lot due to dilatation of the concrete layer underneath. It is very easy to use, doesn't smell too bad when applying it and doesn't smell at all once cured. It is a two component based glue (a sort of milk and a grey powder).
