Ahem, sorry. Anyway look, our plan is still to do Horta, tho latest update from planning committee is probably bollx to Bermuda. So unless watermaker or other major gear goes wrong - we go directish to azores.

Thus timewise this potentially puts us at horta earlier than i indicated before, tho not much earlier.

If we set off from st martin on (earliest) say saturday 28th april and bashed along at unlikely 8 knots (tho the previous newbie owner averaged 8knots overall crusing) then um 2200 miles er er 12ish days fastest would put us at horta on the 9th May earliest.

However, slower times, different route should see us in horta anytime over the follwing two weeks or er months i suppose if it went really badly....

To narrow this all down as we get going, Stingo has got a google-earth boat locator thing which plugs into the ciggie lighter and will show our position updated automatically every 4 hours. Or that's the theory anyway.

We'll stay a few nights in horta anyway.

But all this potentially means that if you made landfall Horta 15th we *might* have gone already. Thus you would risk the utter disaster of us not buying you a beer.

So there you have it, very definite and precisely that i will be in Horta SOMETIME ok? And quite possibly earlier than i said last time, less likely later.

Connected via that reliable old international ISP 'default' at the moment here in Morro Jable.

We are marooned by hideous winds and may have to live here forever.

The sensible sailing season in the Azores starts 1st June - you will have gone long before the weather even begins to get nice.

Assuming we ever manage to haul our sorry windblown asses up to Lanzagrotty then we are going to Madeira when the weather offers us a nice beam reach. Ditto Madeira to the Azores, where Ponta Delgada will prob. be our first landfall.

Much as the challenging prospect of drinking your enormous vessel dry appeals we are not going to beat ourselves up to do it. If we see you it will be epic beyond all previous forum encounters, but if we do not then I trust you will have the decency to leave the price of a decent evening's bevying behind the bar in Peter's Sport Cafe in Horta.

Though cornell sez that there are often delightful conditions in May? Can't be that bad in the island of Flores with al the lovely flowers -and hence the name- in june? There again, perhaps the flowers actually germinate in florida and get ripped over there by gigantic hurricanes.

We are at our last Canary apart from the small but allegedly perfectly formed Isla Graciosa, and looking good for an early May arrival in Madeira if the weather is good.

We could be in Horta by mid-May and it would be nice for it to be so as it would give us more time in the Azores and we could be home earlier - but we are terrible cowards and slaves to the Gribs, so won't leave Madeira unless we think there is a reasonable chance of making Ponta Delgada without getting hammered. We need five days of moderate North Easterlies - so we might still be in Madeira this time next year . . .
