The story so far -

SWMBO is off to see a friend in Germany for a few days around the weekend 19/20 May, so I'd made provisional arrangements for a sailing pal to come up from the Solent, for a weekend trundling about on the East Coast.

However, his SWMBO reminded him in no uncertain terms that it is their granddaughter's first birthday that weekend, and he will be required for jelly & cake duties.

So, I have a "weekend pass" but no shipmate. The alternatives open to me are (in descending order of desireability):

a) find one or more forumites to go sailing with
b) doing jobs on the boat
c) doing jobs in the garden/house

I realise that this is the weekend prior to the annual Cross-Channel dash, and that you will all be tuning up your finely-honed machines for the event.

However, I thought it worth asking....

why not go sailing singlehanded. Its a real sense of achievement and very theroputic.
Try it sometime.
I have sailed cross channel many times singlehanded.

Ipswich boat jumble on Saturday. There will be loads of things there which you did not realise you desperately needed!

Right. Problem solved. A spot of boaty retail therapy while SWMBO's not looking. Straight back to the boat & lose the purchases amongst all the other bits'n'bobs aboard.

She'll never notice.

Unfortunately the Suffolk Boat jumble is on Saturday 21st April not Mid-May.

We will be up at Ipswich Haven giving our new boat her pre-commissioning inspection on Saturday. The Boat Jumble sounds absolutely ideal. Where is it being held?

I will see you B*gg*r and raise you.

I have been trying to get to a boat jumble all winter.
The |Essex Jumble clashed with a Stages Rally the I was Deputy Clark of the Course on
The one at Newark I was feeling to unwell to go.
Now this one I have to go the a dress rehearsal for a kids ballet for which I am doing the lighting the following weekend.

Why do 2 or more things you want to do all happen on the same day?

B*gg*r $%^$£*&^% and other word removed things.

Yeh, I could fancy some sailing that weekend as all other plans seem to be coming to nought. What had you got in mind?
