View Full Version : Stone Point for the weekend
Morgana and ourselves are heading for the Walton Backwaters tomorrow from Ramsgate.
We intend to spend Saturday there with a BBQ on the beach if the weather gods allow.
If anyone is in the area drop by and say hi.
Shame it isnt a week tomorrow otherwise I would have been on for that. But its not. So I cant /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Thanks
The trip was good in parts.
Minimal wind so motored.
Mist to about 10 miles north of North Foreland then Fog.
Thanks to Morgana for waiting for us and watching for shipping to get us over the Black Deep in 50m Vis.
Just getting to the north side of the channel and the fog vanished.
Some wind then got up and we sailed from there to the entrance to Walton Backwaters.
Had a BBQ on the beach at Stone Point last night.
This morning Morgana's crew came on board Sirenia and we motored around Horsey Island including crossing The Wade.
Had to raise the keel and rudder blade to get off the putty a few times.
The channel through Horsey Mere has more twists that a very twisty thing.
I now believe that we have been somewhere on the East Coast that FullCircle has not.

Not so. Chou Fleur III (Evolution 25, of course) did that in 1990. Got wedged in sideways as I was windrode with not much rudder/fin actually in the water.

Foggy, but calm, managed to get the kite up when we got into the Crouch....
..and we saw Crouch Sailing School motorsailing without a cone. Neither did we for that matter.
Saw that nice Mr Colmce, and made a new friend in albineer, who was crewing.

I've never sailed my own boat into the Heybridge basin, and on 5th July will be going up to put boat in Limehouse Basin for first time.
There are bits of the Medway I havent done, and Southwold needs ticking off too.

Hi Clive. We saw you briefly after leaving T'marsh at 9.30. You looked as if you were ready for a good weekend.
Hi
Yes it was a very good weekend and a great way to end a most enjoyable week with the good company of Morgana and family.
