View Full Version : Winter in Catalonia
Working near Girona for 6 months between September 03 and April 04 and wondered whether its worth moving my boat (30 foot plastic raggie) to costa brava over the winter. Is the climate much better than UK to give reasonable sailing over winter? Any recommended ports to keep boat? - have looked at El Port de la Selva (not good shelter), LLanca(expensive and a bit tacky) and Port Vendre, France. France seems much cheaper or am I missing a hidden cost? I would look to living aboard for up to a week at a time.
All advice welcome.
Thanks.

La scala not a bad wee place but stay the hell away from Palamos, especially if you have a cat. Ranks with certain parts of the middle east.
I don't know if this is near you, but just north of Girona, there is a very nice marina/harbour - Estartit. We used to have a villa there and the local market town
is called Torella, only about 3kms away, so provisions are also available.
let me know if this pans out as I may be pursaded to go back there myself.
good luck

Just a thought if you are still looking send a PM to Colin Scott he sails around the area all the time
