Anybody out there been to Lynmouth recently? We're planning a trip from Watchet to Ilfracombe (and hopefully) via Lynmouth.

Any hints and advice welcome ref moorings etc.

Been into Lynmouth but it was a few years ago. Its small and crowded, space only for one visitor on the wall but the important thing is how exposed it is. I moored alongside a resident and it was he who pointed out to me the ships anchor chain used as moorings and the fact that most boats had has material cut off the base of their rudder to protect a bit against pounding in the surge when drying out.

Dont contemplate a visit unless the weather is very settled. And I wouldnt suggest a visit if your boat was any size

Mostly, go somewhere else. Very little room for manoever and very small and bumpy. Had a nervous night there in a 24 footer and would not willingly take a bigger boat in there
Go to Ilfracombe or that quiet little place just before Ilfracombe.
Avoid Porlock Weir and the hotel there especially for similar reasons
