Castle NON recommendation

I have been going into the Castle at Gosport for years but since the last manager left their standards and quality have gone into free fall.
The food is the worst I have ever known it and their organisation on a busy night is non existent.
We waited 25 minutes to get served one night and 9 of us crowded around a 4 person table trying to eat luke warm food.
It's the Clarence for me from now on.

I agree. Previously it was miserable service , unfirendly staff and reasonable food. Now it is surly service, lousey food and limited choice of real ales.

I also agree. Washrooms terrible too. The Clarence has much better beer but I haven't been able to try the food there yet. Gosport is a bit of a desert for decent food/drink.

The Clarence is excellent, the beer is made just over the road in the little industrial estate.

We used to go there a lot but cold lamb puts you off a place, espesially if you're being scowled at by the server.
We usually go to JD Whetherspoons up the High st now. Menu a little constant, but the value is excellent

went in last july. the main problem seem to be its now an "eatery" & not a pub.
