View Full Version : Nardini's Largs Marina
... is well known so probably won't get a mention here, but they do a service that apprently not many know about.
The whole menu is available as a take-away with a big discount. I only found out when the place was booked out, as it usually is at weekends. Eat either on the boat or use their outdoor tables.
Staff are friendly even when they are rushed off their feet.

I thought that was now defunct, you pay VAT on all of it I thought, could of course be wrong, again!

Hot takeaway food is subject to VAT (there was a huge fuss when it was introduced, along the grounds that a Tory Chancellor was taxing a working man's dinner whilst business entertaining remained tax deductable). Cold food isn't VAT rated, so ice cream, sandwiches etc. are still tax free, though sweets are not.
Oh dear, I am extremely sad to know about this, and even sadder to be repeating it!

I must concur, Nardini's has become my second home when in Largs!
Very good for the Tea Time Apres Boat pint(or two)!

Very good ice cream at NArdini's but not a patch on the Arran ice cream available just over the water! Well worth a trip across the Clyde to pick some up.
Is nardinis open again?

I think there is some confusion here. There was Nardini's in Largs itself, a traditional tea-room which sadly closed some time ago, the whole place just boarded up now. Then there is Nardini's at the marina. I've no idea if there is any connection.
I've always enjoyed a pint and a bite at the marina. Earlier this year a colleague invited me on a quick thrash up from Troon to Rothsey for the night but after battling a F6ish head wind and with me in admittedly inadequate walking clothes, and being ill, and very cold/wet we gave up and went into Largs. That night Nardini's was the most wonderful place on the planet. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
