I'm a definite maybe at the moment. If I can arrange a few other meetings in Town on the day, then I can justify it; I'll let you know asap.

For anybody who is wondering whether or not to go, the Aladin is excellent, cheap and very cheerful. The free beer was OK, iirc, though not a marque that I recognised ..... Presumably they are hoping that if they feed enough free booze to Scuttlebutters, they will build brand awareness :D

Jim really sorry I can't make it this year as away on work....at least the beer will go further without me I guess. I'm sure it'll be a memorable evening, at least memorable for the other people in the curry house as I suspect none of you will be able to remember anything about it. Well, last time I went there in the company of Mr F Circle, there was a beer promotion going on and there was a bunch of people handing out free beer to everyone as they entered the restaurant. I won't pretend that it was a brand I'm familiar with, and it wasn't exactly a CAMRA-approved brew, but it was perfectly drinkable and, um, free.

I think they were probably supposed to distribute one bottle per person - but this concept got lost, somewhere along the way................. :)

Au contraire, I suspect that someone at the Aladin has tipped him the wink that there will be another promotional giveaway on the proposed date. Either this is a bare-faced lie to fill a table on a quiet evening, or it's not. I suspect it's not because I don't think they have much trouble filling their tables any evening. By extension, therefore, free beer seems likely to make an appearance.

However, this is all pure speculation on my part. Jim (Mr Circle) may be able to confirm, deny, or issue a "No Comment" :)

Tricky, as there is no wine list. In fact there is no alcohol at all. However, his Brother in Law owns an offy about 50 metres up the street, and you 20% off marked prices, which actually weret that bad to begin with.
There is, of course, free beer too.

What an excellent night! Congratulations again on all the organisation stuff. It was good to see most of the faces from last year and also to meet some new ones. Shame the evening went so quickly, maybe we could start at lunchtime in the future!

Once again, the trip home was a blur - the sign of a good night out.

I hope we get more entrants for the competition next time (who can bring the largest piece of boaty stuff up to London on Public Transport).
