Anyone know of a reliable and hopefully good-value source of wet-cell Lead/Acid batteries in Greece?

I will be driving down from UK next spring and would rather avoid trundling heavy batteries from the UK but so far all my attempts at getting good info from Greek dealers has been "come and see us" with scant info on quality and price.

Maybe they will be priced in Drachmas next year?

It would help if you could tell us where in Greece you are likely to be going.

But I would definitely consider taking them with you if you have space in the car,as they are considerably dearer in Greece than in the UK.

Again, depends on where your heading. Here in Corfu, there's a guy started a dedicated Battery shop, on the main road heading into Corfu Town.
I bought three, 110 A/H Varta Batteries from him, for 450 euros, the lot!!
He's cheep on Car batteries, as well.

I do know of a dedicated battery supplier in Kalamata.

He sells open lead acid batteries for about €1/amp/hr.

He stocks a wide range of specialist marine batteries as well, though they tend to be more expensive.

It's difficult to explain where he is, but the marina office can give precise details.

we're about to deal with the new Trojan agent in Athens, we'll let you know how we get on later in the week.

Give David Hartley a call on +30 694 072 3889 or email him on yachtingreece@hotmail.co.uk. He works out of a boatyard at Sousaki (near the east end of the Corinth Canal). He sells lots of boat batteries, the ones he got me in 2007 are semi-sealed wet types (that means they're supposed to stay sealed but you can access the cells to check them and/or top-up). They're still giving perfect service - and we live-aboard full time so they work hard. He's a highly recommended boat engineer too.

Have been very happy with Trojans but they will need replacing at the start of next season.........'Would appreciate details of the new Trojan agent so I can ask the local place to get some for me.

We've been dealing with Jim at George Roussakis (think my translation is correct) on 2106622055. He's been very helpful, he is currently awaiting a delivery of Trojan batteries as they've only just taken over the dealership.

If you're driving you should buy in UK and take them with you.
I bought two quality Rolls batteries this spring and they fitted neatly in the passenger footwell on their way to Monfalcone.

This is the way to do it , batteries are much dearer here in Greece,
I always bring them in from England .

OK. Thanks all for your wisdom. I will probably source my replacements in the UK with all winter to shop around.

All but two of our 8 expensive Trojan 145 batteries have collapsed. They were purchased early 2006. Don't think that's very good service. Replacement price in Marmaris 640TL each.

Will be interested in price in Greece (Aegina)

I bought two lead/acid 110ah batteries from tesco (kipa) in Turkey for 230TL (about 80 for two!) two months ago, if that helps?
