Where are you in the world? Are you in Belize, Athens, St Kats or Australia??

Can you describe the fault and any tests you may have conducted? ;)

If you don't get what you want of the forum try Alternators and Starters, good people to deal with.

Is this a start alternator?

Thanks for the responses. I`m in NE England. The fault I`ve had is that the ignition warning light continues to glow when the engine is running. I`ve done the usual - checked wiring, cleaned all the earth points etc. I had the unit checked at local auto electrics who cleaned slip rings and brushes, but this has made no difference.

I now suspect the diodes, but am cautious about dismantling the unit myself and am not confident about being able to get correct diodes to replace.

There is an alternator for the Datsun Z22 car engine that is physically similar, although the connection on that is the T type plug whereas the Hitachi unit has three separate posts.

.......any further suggestions welcome.

Cheers
