View Full Version : East Midlands meet, 22nd June.
Hi all,
Been wracking my brains for somewhere to meet, and suggest the following, which is about 7/10 mins off Junction 15A M1.
Venue: The Folly Inn, London Road, Towcester, Northants.
Directions:
1) From M1, off at Jcn 15A, and follow signs for A43, Oxford. In about 5 miles, turn left at roundabout onto the A5 South. Go through the small town of Towcester, and the Folly is about 1/2 mile on the right, opposite Towcester Racecourse.
2) From Oxford, take the A43, past Silverstone to Towcester. At the roundabout with the A5, turn right, and then through Towcester as above.
It's a nice old pub, with good bar meals. Usual time 7.00/7.30??
PS If we cannot pursuade anyone from the South Midlands area to come, I'll find somewhere a bit further North.

OK guys, for those of us who are new to the gathering, what's the recognition signal?
Do I have to carry a rolled up copy of YM? Wear oilies with one trouser leg rolled up ? Is there a secret scuttlebutt handshake?
Or do I just look out for the loudest group around the bar? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Just look for the group drinking Coca Cola.

Its usually the lurid combination of yellow and red waterproof jackets hung on chair backs that gives it away........
Alternatively... if you want to enter the pub wth one trouser leg rolled up, then we'll know who you are, and wave you over.....
Prefer J2O myself, with a touch of tonic water. Spotting us is easier than you may think - for some reason, raggies seem to stand out in a Midlands pub!! Stoogy Steve and myself are pretty much follically challenged, so head for the nearest couple of baldies, and it should be us!!
It's the blood stained axes that usually give away the identities. Everyone knows that meeting people from the internet is bound to have you encountering at least one mad axe murderer
It's called "Grooming isn't it?? How are you Brendan?
Grooming, or selection of the fittest? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I'm well, though not getting in as much boating as I'd like. See from another post you are planning a summer cruise, so I take it you are back to boating with a vengeance after your back? problems

Yeah, he's got the bug again, after sailing a bleedin' monster around in blue water for a couple or so of weeks.... harumph.... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Great to meet you all last night.
Nicho, I did think your request to the barmaid for plenty of passion was pushing it a bit as chat-up lines go......or were you referring to the fruit in the J2O?
regards
John
At my age John, I think it was the J2O!! Good to meet you and the others again - we'll hopefully repeat again later in the year,
Cheers
