Everybody applied for their new EHIDCs (replacement for the old E111).

They are available on line at: www.dh.gov.uk/travellers (http://www.dh.gov.uk/travellers)

Thanks for the reminder .Just done mine and the kids in about 5 minutes.

Last year I took out online travel insurance as well .It cost less than £10 for up to a week in Europe and covers things that the health card doesnt such as air ambulances repatriating dead bodies etc.

Be prepaired for it to contain errors!
Both of ours had incorrect DOB so had to phone and get new ones issued. Radio4 'You & Yours' program highlighted the number of cockups being made.

The 'New' version of the E111 is still valid till next year, so no need to panic.

Sorry you found the Euro health card website so boring and difficult - I found it a breeze and filled in & submitted the forms for myself & husband in about 3 minutes. Although this was at the second attempt at logging on - the first time it just froze. Disconnect & try again.

Yes that was my problem.... web site was extremely unresponsive.... froze several times, and I thought the navigation was poor...

But.....

Its a huge step forward from having to slog down to the post office,,, which as those of you that are like me and work long hours, is sometimes not that easy to do.....
