View Full Version : SHUMA 40 FT HATRESS IN SOUTHAMPTON WATERS
HAS ANYONE SEEN A 40 FT HATRESS CALLED " SHUMA " ON BERTH 52, ON THE ITCHEN , HAMBLE OR ANY MARINA AROUND SOUTHAMPTON.
WE HAD THE BOAT BROUGHT UP FROM THE MED BY LORRY, IT WAS DELIVERED TO A MARINE, WITH THE NAME DENNIS, THE LORRY DRIVER HAS TAKEN ANOTHER BOAT BACK TO THE MED, BUT FORGOT TO TELL US WHERE THE BOAT IS.
I would have guess at Hamble Yacht Services first off. I was there for a week or so living on board and every morning or sometimes at dead of night a transporter from med wd turn up and sometimes they wd crane the boat off in the morning, sometimes not. HYC have a v large crane so they could defintely handle anything hence reasonable guess for any numptie driver. You could just ring round of course - there ain't too many marinas that can handle a 40 footer off a lorry.
Is the bloke called Dennis or was that the lorry?

Obviously not old enough to be able to spell "Hatteras." /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
YARD OWNER OR MANAGER CALLED DENNIS, CAN YOU HELP.
BY THE WAY I AM 53.
YES 53 YEARS OLD, CAN YOU HELP.
Stephen. I've posted a link to this thread on the Practical Boat Forum above where you're more likely to both reach a wider audience and get a result. Good luck.
PS - Please turn of caps when posting - it's real hard on the eyes /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I linked this on mobo and scuttlebutt forums on 18th, but Stephen20 hasn't really helped us much by responding to questions. Why not contact the driver. He must have had a mobile phone, and been recruited from a company somewhere
Brendan, see my response on PBO
Stephen, got any updates for us. Let us know if you are still trying to track boat down.

Sounds like a scam to me. Somebody trying to get info on the boat so that they can nick it.
When I was trying to sell my boat, I came into contact with scammers galore. [--word removed--]. Could smell them a mile off. One bloke even sent me a picture of his parents 'as proof'. I actually thought my boat might have been nicked the other day because a woman who had been interested in being my skipper and who had emails from me saying, 'Yes, be my skipper', suddenly died after I found her email address linked to a boat that sounded like mine and which was looking for crew in the Mexico area. She conveniently died 2 days after I sent an email to her asking if she had my boat! Then again, she may very well be dead and I feel like a fool and bad for thinking with such cynicism but hey, those bloody scammers have made my blood boil. Anyway, I phoned the marina and my lovely boat is all safe and sound and even the water in the batteries has been topped up. Bless.
St Denys on the River Itchen, perhaps?
