View Full Version : Who wants to go?
yeah I'm bustin and I'll wet myself if I'm not allowed out..
I have booked my boat for 14/15/16/17 September (charter boat) and got a weekend pass from SWMBO.
Got some people lined up interested in crewing. Can take one or two extras though if it helps. Appreciate advice though on those to refuse!!
How much you charging?
Don't accept anyone whose name starts with a "S" or "M"

Errr yerh. Still accept Brittany Ferries?
Chortle! Snigger! etc....
I haven't missed one yet /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Naturally depends on the weather, but expect I will appear.
Will be there once again.
Wont do St Vast but will go to chewburger
I will definitely give it a go again!
Refuse any with over 3000 posts here. Terrible bores....
Thanks for advice. I don't think I can turn down anyone with a genuine need - unless others PM me with why they won't take them!!
W/E 14,15,16 Sept. Well, weather permitting, please count in Cornish Maid with me and Richard

I will be needing a berth; I will PM Sailfree- I'm sure nobody I met last time, and others I have sailed with will besmirch my good name /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
yep, count me in on Moondance.
Berths available as long as I know you, or somebody else will vouch for you, or we can get together in advance.
(Sorry to be picky, I've taken one stranger too many across the channel before now)

Cutter et al - There seem to be several threads for this so I may have posted incorrectly ... duplicating here ...
A tentative "yes, please" ... do I understand correctly that you are Keeper of the List? We shall be 4 (I believe) on an Island Packet 370 ...
BTW, superb choice of Fuchias in St.V - book the conservatory! And I would agree that in CHBG the yacht club would be best, if available ... it's comfy, convivial, convenient and the chow's not bad, IMO. An alternative idea would be something non-French traditional (since one would be hard pressed to better Fuchias!), e.g., North African ... last year I had a decent meal at a place called Botan, walking distance of the port ... just an idea to contribute ...
Msg me, please, for any info or confirmation about joining you lot for the Cherbourg jolly ...

I know StugeronSteve is planning to go..... but awaiting offsprings A level results, to clarify when he'll be hauling aformentioned up to Uni.....
Good to see new names joining the outing.
Don't expect anybody to organise a meal in StVaast and Cherbourg, just sorting out the numbers for one night is more than enough to drive a man to drink.
my tip would be informal and optional in StVaast, then the Yacht Club in Cherbourg again. Tome's previous suggestion of paying in advance makes sense, to sort out the 'definites' from the "maybe, if SWMBO doesnt stop at the last minute" or "we changed our mind"
thinking about it...but i'll be the youngest there and that put's me of.
How old are you then. Some of the children that have been have been quite young, though pretty intelligent too, which might tax you a little.
That's OK then. Dom's kids should be able to talk down to you
not sure yet. Got some stuff like a wedding I've got to clear off diary, and I'd like to take my own boat over for once, so would be very weather dependent as it's only a little one
What boat you got then? You seem to keep that quiet.

that's **** - how would you know if you have never been. Apart from Dom's kids - who are bright as buttons - 2 years ago, my son came along at 18. Last year Talbot's son in his early 20's. Both years Flyingjunior came in late teens, early 20's.
Admittedly if BobE attends, the average age goes up significantly, but even he behaves like a kid along with the rest of us.
Besides, somebody has to be the youngest.
So what are you ? Man or mouse?
Regal 2150. It's been discussed many times, so hardly been kept quite. Don't you bother to read the forums?

Oi Bren, when you say weather dependent, does thay mean you will only go if f4/5 or above, coz thats what seems to get you going. Or is your taste for extreem starting to wain?
Dont wory you know your a good healer, you even bounce of cliffs quite well.
as much as I like the rough stuff, cross channel in a sportsboat does mean that sea state slight with a very good forecast is essential!
I do have the advantage that with smooth conditions, I can be there in under 2 hours! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Sounds good, put myself and Debbie down again. Sorry Cutter we'll try not to disturb you with any late night visits bringing rough wine.
I have already been a few years ago...!

have you tried all bran?
I would lurve to come if any one can give me a ride as my boat's in Chesapeake Bay (If anyone wants to come for a sail in October/November let me know by the way).
I am good at buying and drinking wine.
Also sail a bit and very easy going - especially when drinking wine.
SWMBO has given me leave of absence for trip!!!
Anyone looking for a berth, I may have one available. PM with details and I will confirm ASAP.
We would be leaving on FRiday about 4.30.
I see Tom is going the day before this year, oh well, thats one way of beating Galadriel!

I intend to be there weather etc permitting.
I will probably have a spare berth available on a westerly konsort departing from Southsea marina (Portsmouth) on the Thursday to meet up in St Vaast.
I didnt know your at southsea marina!
Rock ON!
Took my grandson to france for last week -he loved the sailing. He wants more. If I took him on this weekend would it put him off for life? Woukld you recommend this weekend as suitable for a nearly 15yr old?

Hi Cutter, hopefully be there (S.V. and Chbg)with MagnaCarter and jhr.
Hi peeps
Getting confused - easily done, I know
Please could skippers of boats intending to come pm me with names, planned arrivals (St Vaast or just Chbg) and a contact mobile.
I will then compile a list of runners and riders.
Seems like its as popular as ever.
How about dinner at Fuscias and bbq in Chbg to please both groups?
Richard
I have crewed on a couple of forum Cherbourg weekends. The majority of boats had all adult crews but the children and teenagers who went seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I cannot see what the arrangements are for Cherbourg eating Sat eve, has anything been posted yet? I so what is the agenda?
Or is the organised event St V the night before?
We need to all meet up in CB on the Saturday night ... otherwise I'll get hungry!!
Dont worry about that, we'll be there, but has anyone arranged the sailing club, or an alternative?
Hi everyone
A good friend of mine has just purchased 'Freedom of Hamble', the First 47.7 that used to run out of Lymington, Some of you prob know her. Anyway, I'm just going through the coding bit with them, and I know he's keen to do a channel hop in Sept, would you welcome him?
Years and years of exper, but new boat to him. He just fancies his first trip to be in company.

I'm still looking for a berth- I have been away (boat shopping and dealing with my step fathers death) so haven't contacted those offering a berth. So, has any one got room for me- late Thursday or Friday departure preferred; I'm a cheerful, useful crewmember, able to take a watch if necessary; I don't require a palatial separate berth. I'd love to get one more bit of sailing in before work and family commitments take hold. Please:)
Right now we have a crew of 5. One crewman has a wife about to give issue so he's down as maybe or not depending on his inconsiderate wife
You'd need a blokes name should it come to pass.
Albert?

Surely the obvious random blokes name is Dick
I can manage 10 but its too cosy, awaiting a few confirmations but sure I can fit in an extra 1 or 2. Boat has 4 cabins and covertable saloon. Ideal number say 6. Intend going to St Vaast leaving hamble thursday night. Boat is charter coded and has radar and Chartplotter. PM me if you are interested. I will contact Cutter with my own crew list once I have it confirmed in case there are some other worthy (and recommended) souls that are seeking a berth.

Count me in as spare crew not fussed who I sail with abilitys include not prone to being sea sick, can cook at sea, know how to maintain leaky wood boats, can now more or less sail with and trim a spinny, dont mind getting wet and cold have experiance in sitting out on the rail for hours at a time as well as over 3000nm logged.
Nick are you trying to flatter me? age wise I am 25.
cheers pip

Tome thankyou for your kind offer but I've now got a berth with someone who'll let me be my true self /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
PS I could probably do badges again if required....
No problems, the dubious crew is now looking more positive as his new daughter was born Saturday which puts a respectable distance between the 2 events (or so he claims)
If it's OK with everybody, I'm thinking about bringing Fair Prospect as the token mobo (or are there others?) - just sorting crew.
Welcome but is it true that MoBo's have a better quality wine celler?
No other mobos - yet - (Julie?) but as a moboer masquerading as a raggie for the weekend, I'd appreciate some moral support! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Oh yes - the guests who came to our soiree on Dream Dancer on the 2004 S/B Cherbourg cruise turned up with some decent stuff. I think they were overwhelmed by the luxurious accommodation and responded accordingly. I would expect even better this year because Fair Prospect is a notch up from Dream Dancer.
well I hope she isn't too much more difficult to squeeze into a Cherbourg parking bay! I seem to recall it wasn't straightforward last time. Has she got an electric sliding sunroof that we can play with again ? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

After saying that I was going to come I will have to drop out as have just found out that it clashes with the great river race which HWMBO is partaking in (in which he claims will be his 1st and last time doing it).Have a great time and any dates set for 2007?!!!
Hi all,
If I can get crew, count me in please!
The boat is a well-equipped Beneteau First 42s7, two double cabins spare...
Anyone interested in crewing please PM me...
I'm toying with the idea of going so may be two of us at least.
