NEW FUEL PRICE FORUM RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
      #168228 - 19/11/2001 10:01

Rules of engagement

To make this forum completely useful and to guarantee its ongoing health, a polite request to ensure that all posts are first-hand accurate and not secondhand hearsay. Format:

1) subject line should always comprise the specific location of fuel berth with sufficient detail to allow accurate search results;

2) new subject for each location;

3) price identifies type of fuel, price shown in pence per litre (p/lt) and to include the amount of fuel taken if applicable (or discount structure if known);

4) non-UK fuel prices to show applicable currency and conversion to UK pnds if applicable;

5) date of observation or fuelling to be shown;

6) any notes limited to useful info on the fuel berth, not uninformed opinion on motives for pricing and so on. For other observations, please use the usual forums.

To get the ball rolling, I've filed reports dating from late July and August this year on the MBM Dutch and Normandy cruises in company.

Any comments on these guidelines please after this post.

Keep it at the top, Kim, and you won't have to post like mpprh.

Kim - any chance of this forum only being sorted in subject order? As it matures (ha) more posts will be made to the existing ones adding the latest fuel prices. Some lazy bu**ers are just going to add an existing marina as a new post to the top rather than find the previous entry and add a reply.

If not possible on-lone then how about just an overnight (or Friday) sort being run?

Cheers.

Barry D.

Hummm...yes, been thinking about this. Only disadvantage is it will be less obvious when new posts are added but I also noticed you were needing to look off the bottom of the list when adding Ramsgate and Eastbourne to existing posts (for which I thank you).

Problem is whole system is ordered by date, not any other means. I'll have to have a chat with those in the know to see what we can do.

Another option might eventually be to set up a separate database where we can order it exactly as we please.

Either way will report back here.

When you look at the index of threads, click on the 'subject' heading at the top, and it will resort it in subject order - you can sort by any of the other headlines I think, like username. Like you can in Outlook.

On the fuel price forum you might want to select 'show all posts' - its set to show only those within the last month by default.

Wait a minute, isnt' this... [Re: kimhollamby]

...the EUROPE's N°1 marine website?
Kim, the new rules seem pretty UK-centric!
Wouldn't it be useful to use (also, maybe?) Euro?
Guess it would be easier also for Brits, at least those enjoying the med waters...
BTW, I still think that this website actually IS what it pretends to be! :-))
Ciao, Mario.
