Hi! I have a dual station system on my steel boat. The instruments date from the early 1990's, which I am quite happy with, but I have a problem. The wind transducer is broken, this actually hapened in a Bora in Croatia, which is amusing on seeing the recent posts. I have rebuilt it and replaced the hall effect Tr, fanshioned a new vane and rebuilt the bearings (same size as found in a router kit) but have now discovered that the wires have all corroded and have no colour left on them! SO WHAT WILL I DO - well I'm fed up - after hours of re building the battered thing. Does anyone know or have knowledge where i can find any details on the VDO marine instruments, they are all white in colour and are the similiar size to the Raymarine ST40. All i have is pathetic little booklet on how to switch each one on and off! Or does anyone know whether i can use other wind transducers. Or can send any wiring diagrams to see if we can modify any other manufacturers units.
Another problem is I'm scared of heights and will not go back up the mast just to try something out, hence I'm resorting to this tactic first.
VDO have not been helpful, unless i buy a new set. I have no intention of doing this as the only instruments to fit easily are the ST40s and well the answer is no - so please dont make such a suggestion.
