We are 2 captains having damages due to the misplaced Buoy line Time April 2008 ( 17 and 19) Location: Mediterranean Sea, Northern Ionian, Lefkada, Lefkada Canal, North side going NNE after passing of the floating bridge, position right North of the buoyline North from Santa Maura (Aios Mavros). What happened: There are big rocks or stones or something hard on the wrong side of the buoy line lying less than 1,8 meter down giving great distress and damages to the vessel traffic. My yacht and also the other captains hit rocks with severe damages having to remove keels and in my case also a broken rudder!! We have excess or damage claims on the Greek Military who har responsible for this link
Any captains with similar experience of this totally messed up channel?

Traffic permitting, I always go pretty much dead centre in that channel. Havent hit anything yet but Im going through the bridge in 2 weeks time so thanks for the warning. PS fortunately I draw 1.7m anyway!

YES indeed. This was not the first time for me either. Even if you dont find the 5 meter curve all the way there it is rather likely safe in the middle for our ships -- but when you are meeting ships heading south.....
By the way - my draught is almost like yours -- 1,83
maybe my point is: THE BOTTOM IS SUPPOSED TO BE SAND. IF NOT SAND MUD OR MARSH,,,,,, BUT I HIT HARD CONCRETE OR STONES LYING SHALLOW...MAYBE EVEN MORE SHALLOW THEN 1,5....
