Got a ST50 nav system on my yacht, up until I lifted the boat for wash and antifoul the log worked OK. Now back in the water the log reads approx 2x the GPS reading. Great when sailing but has the potential to cause major problems. Before washing the hull down the log was jammed with marine life and was blasted with the jet wash by the yard. Any clues on why and and fixs
Thank

Quick fix- recalibrate the ST50? Did this in Greece 2 weeks ago, not that difficult when following the instruction book

Quite normal for calibration to change as the hull gets a bit furry. Recalibrate now while its clean and make a note of it in the log so you can return to that setting. I found best way is either to calibrate against a traditional trailig log which because its streamed astern is not influenced by the hull so more accurate. The second method is to find somewhere with neglegable tides and calibrate to distance run either against GPS log or radar range. Much more accurate to calibrate over say 5 miles run that try and do it on speed.
