Yachting and Boating World forums: Antifoul in Cardiff Bay

What's the consensus, needed or not ?

Got the boat out on her trailer at the moment for a good clean / service and to fix the electrics after the mink set up camp onboard. Spent the day yesterday with a pressure washer and scrubbing the undersides, which to be fair wasn't wholly successful and ultimately I guess the antifoul needs to be redone. It's still intact, if a bit grubby though.

I'm after opinions really on how bad it'll be if we drop her back in until the late autumn before having the underside stripped & re-fouled. Only reason for not wanting to do it now being cost, everything's landed at the same time, insurance, mooring, service plus the discovery yesterday of the electrical faults, meaning a big visit from the sparky is necessary before she goes back in and I can't see it being cheap

Pulling her out isn't an issue though as we've got the trailer.

This being our first year as boatowners I'm not entirely sure about the importance of antifoul in the Bay, given that after a year in the water she wasn't all that bad, just a good layer of green slime which, if we'd used her more over the last few months I'm guessing wouldn't have been there. I'd imagined huge growth it has to be said.
