Vandalism
      #1837930 - 26/04/2008 08:10

I just don't understand why, just for the hell of it, drunken kids decide to use my lovely classic for target practice with empty beer bottles. The boat is second one out on a trot in Torquay inner harbour, a good sixty feet throw but one recently hit the deck taking paint back to the wood and exploding everwhere including under the cover which is not a close fit and sending fragments into the boat. After a winter of hard work to make the old gal look her best it is very disheartening!

At present that is all I have to say and hope when I visit today that I will not find anything else amiss.

Have a good weekend everyone
Cheers for now
Kevin

Hatefull little b@stards some of them these days. Had a similar problem a few years back in the marina at H/Pool, only it was air rifle pellets scattered accross the deck. Looks like the little scroats thought the small round deadlights made a good target, Never did catch the buggers but scattered the stone throwers with a few well placed glass marbles fired from a very powerfull catapult. (Hasten to add I aimed to miss, but not by much), The air rifle practice also ceased after this episode. Hope no more damage done, regards, Mike.

Because they are unthinking gormless drunks. Did they throw at the first boat in the trot? Reckon they thought it was a "larf" and forgot all about it 10 minutes later while being sick or kicking off someone else's door mirror.
Let me guess, no CCTV coverage by the boat? Get in touch with the Council and get them to add a camera.

Little Sh##s need swimming lessons from about 5 miles out!

Sorry to hear about the damage but it seems to be a sign of the times! I had a rear window cracked (it still is) by some scrote throwing stones and I was on the boat at the time. Mind you by the time I had got off the boat the scrote had done a runner.

Obviously he didn't want the swimming lesson.

I have ben thinking of leaving my solar panel out at all times but looking from the harbour wall it will make an easy target!

Well when I returned there was no more damage but that night whilst lying in bed I began thinking of all the nasty things I could do to them, one being to walk up to them and politely ask who the best shot was and with his/her admission to smash a bottle at their feet and get them to remove their trousers and to sit down on the glass and to explain that that is what happens on a sailing boat when sitting out in the summer. After the glass had been removed by so called drunken friends or at hospital I dont think they would do it again. Needless to say I have done nothing and just hope it was a one off. I have doubts that these people have ever owned anything that they are proud of which is a bit sad is it not. I have a feeling that the time has come for beer to be sold in biodegradable bottles which when empty could not cause any major damage and certainly would not fly through the air in the same way.

Plastic bags which get caught round props are also due for a change too and so the list goes on, we are a pretty wasteful sciety at present with throw away this and thats. Now though I must go off and use the wind which is relatively free at the moment and do some sailing when this godawful rain and wind stops, mmmm to get back to reality I must go down to the sea again to the lonely sea and the sky and all I want is a tall ship and a star to steer her by!!
Cheers for now, Kevin
