That little flashing envelope that indicates a new P.M received and links to it is flashing away and I can't stop it! I've even deleted the last message I received, but to no avail. Been going for days now. What do I do to stop it!!! ????

If you are sure that you have no unread pm's then press ctrl and F5 on your keyboard simultaneously when you are on the page with the flashing envelope displayed.
This forces your web browser to dump its cached data and reload it from the web server.

done it! not really sure how . . control+F5, scrolled through last half dozen messages, returned to list, still there, tried again, disappeared. So maybe there was a message somewhere (read receipt?) that I hadn't actually opened. Thanks for your response, appreciated.

An unopened read receipt would do it.... counts as a new unopened message.

Resurecting this thread. I find that often I have a message but the flashing envelope is hidden, just a blue bar. If I hover over the bar the cursor changes to the finger. I use Firefox, I wonder if it does recognise the flashing icon sometimes?
