Flat sea, calm conditions, 25 knots - "bang", picked up a large piece of rope (looks like it's been in the water for some time). Result? 4 new props, and a cost of £1500 to repair. Thanks to the morons that just throw their gear overboard.
This is a problem that is not going away!

Had the same experience just abeam of N Head By on Sat. Luckily it looped around blade and was pulled free , when we got through Hurst and were able to use stern ladder to reach. Again it was a tangled mass of green nylon 12mm which had been in the water for only a short time
