Dinghy transon swivel for snap davits
      #1849907 - 07/05/2008 09:51

This post
Swivel
was interesting to someone like me who has snap davits. It would be great to not have to keep taking the outboard off and on.

As the post has dropped off the front page I thought I would resurrect it to see if anyone has any weblinks to such a device??

whoever came up with the original snap davits in the US has a device that fits to the transom and keeps the outboard level as the tender is lifted. I tried to get a quote from them a few years back and they weren't interested.

Weaver make snap davits and also the "Leaver", the device that you just reinvented!

That's the one. I filled out and faxed the form, phoned, but it was all too much bother for them.

Wiggo,

In the current financial climae in the USA you will find most suppliers are more than happy to go the extra mile and ship anything over here. I recently got an 8ftx8ft Bimini and frame shipped over. The guy was just happy to make a sale and tried to flog me a complete new set of seating!

Cheers

Paul

There's two companies making them then, as that's not the one I had seen, but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the other one.

I made enquiries and a companu called Polymarine sell weaver stuff. The reply I got was, and I quote ''since the weaver lever has been available (about 6 years) we have ever only sold two - the last about three years ago. At that time it was over £300 and prices have probably gone up by 20%''

I thought it seemed a great idea. Not sure this company wants to sell me one!! maybe the states is a better option.

Seems there are three variations depending on the height difference between the tender transom and height of tubes. Still think I'll buy one.
