Just purchased hand held vhf radio, based on advise from forumites earlier. Only problem is I have to get this on a plane in hand luggage. Will I have problems with security??? anyone done this recently?

I carried one and an Auto LJ to Greece two years ago.No problems.
Why does it have to go in hand baggage? I am guessing you dont have any hold baggage?

yep, was planning on hand baggage only. I cant see why they should object as I guess its the same as a mobile phone?

I suspect they might get sniffy - a mobile phone works on a very high frequency and puts out tiny amounts of power but your VHF is probably close to some aviation frequencies and can kick out 5W.
