I must be a very attractive person when I'm fishing
      #1855660 - 12/05/2008 14:56

'Cos all you stinkies keep coming over to see me fish

[/rant on]
Seriously, what attraction do anchored fisihng vessels provide to cause a significant number to alter course to come over and have a look, complete with wake, grrr..
[/rant off]

Same reason as when looking after a bunch of divers every raggie for miles around seem to think you'd make a good marker for tacking round.

Could it be you favour deep water channels that are on main tracks ?

It can be awkward if a boat is moored in my track.

i dont want to pass at close quarters but without checking a chart what can you do ?

By diverting 20 meters away you could risk running into shallow water.

With the cost of fuel increasing slowing down is no longer an option as it costs too much to climb back on the plane.

Have you thought about fishing from the shore ?

edit
that was my first attempt at an ironic post

Nah, yesterday I was fishing around the west of the Shingles, for those that know the Solent approaches and if anything the viewers run the risk of going into shallow water to see me. And we're not on their course, I can see the change in wake as they come across.

Shore fishing sucks, it's all those stinkies coming close to the pier dragging the rods off the rails

If you could hear them over the engines, they are probably shouting: "Caught anything?"

I think it's probably due more to you looking like a mangled sealion than it is to do with good looks. Possibly people come over to check out the carnage before they realise the blubber is human and alive.

Cheers, Brian.

Thought all fisherman had gone over to cats now so wake and waves weren't so much of an issue? Cue Gludy.....

OK; so let's examine the evidence:

You're fishing
Presumably you're at anchor, hence stationary
The sun is glinting off your barnet and, due to the rhythmical pattern of the waves, it's displaying a gp. fl. pattern to curious onlookers
Due to the impact of the sun's rays, your head is an interesting shade of red.

Only one possible conclusion: You're being mistaken for the SW Shingles buoy.
