The boat is out of the water for annual maintenance. Have just found out that we've got to wait 4-5 weeks for new props to be delivered! Annoying to say the least! My dilemma is that I have already rubbed the hull down and applied one coat of antifouling. Should I put the second coat on now or leave it to nearer the time the boat goes back in the water? Thanks in advance for any help!

It depends on the antifouling , it says on the tin.
I use International optima and its ok for 6 months berore launching.
Check tin or call the manufacturers help line.
Whats wrong with your props?

The antifoul is International Interspeed Ultra - tins are on the boat so will check at the weekend. The props were damaged by an electrolosis problem - anodes were completely eroded and it then got to work on the props! Thanks.

Above is the page for the data Sheet for the paint. It gives 2 months at 23deg C so you should be ok.
International's yacht paint division is called yachtpaint.com.
I hope you have got a good marine electrician to do a connectivity test on all the underwater fittings and to go through all of your bonding wires. Its a black art and it needs to be right.
You are talking to a man who used both shaft brushes and shaft anodes.
Do you leave it permanently connected to shore power?

Just wondering why your props are taking 6 weeks. Presume you are either on one of the remoter Galapagos Isles or your props are made of some exotic material and of such a rare design that only NASA can custom build them ?

Thanks for the web link - very useful. Yes the boat is constantly connected to shore power. We've got a marine electrician working on the boat at the moment.

I agree with you! The boat is a 1990 Fairline 41/43 Sedan based on the Solent - wouldn't have thought it would be too much of a tall order! We will be phoning some different suppliers this week to see if we can get them quicker.

Personally I dont like leaving my boat on permanent shore power while unattended, if anything goes wrong it goes wrong big time from an erosion point of view.

...that would certainly help relieve my tension and frustration while the boat is out of the water during the nice weather!!
