Apologies non Boaty. Anyone know where I can get small 12V motor
      #1861629 - 16/05/2008 19:19

Central Locking on S in Law's V Class Merc seems to have blown all actuators. I have stripped them right down and yes the ones I have examined are definitely burnt out.

Does anyone know the source of the motors (12V)

They have no markings on them other than a number 39.

I will try Maplin and CPC.

Bill likely to be £1000 or so all new actuators and control box needed.

Sorry for posting here but with such a diverse range of people reading this site I thought someone might be able to help.

Is it a stepper motor, just thinking of it's function?

Around here the motor factors used to sell a kit with 5 actuators in them for about 20 squid. That would be your best source.
The motors should be opened up tof ind the actual problem. ie melted brushes or commutator but they are probably brown bread.
Have a look at www.jaycar.com.au under door lock kit. However I imagine Maplin or RS would also do them. I have fitted the kits to 2 cars without much difficulty. olewill

Have you identified the cause of the overload ? No point in replaing the units, if it is all going to happen again.

Try http://www.mercman.net/

They have a large stock of bits, but I have a Trading Standards argument with them over reapying the cost of postage on an incorrect part. Other than that they are OK.

Not an option, the vehicle is adapted for wheelchair use and we need to keep it running for a while longer.

The cause of the failure was repeated and continous locking and unlocking of the doors probably caused by a faulty contact on a door or lock position sensor. That will obviuosly be corrected. Thank you for the link.
