Does anyone know where and how I can get it re-charged in the Solent area?

Thanks. I found that and they give a list of agents but non specialise in boat fridge repairs. I was hoping that someone might have the experience of having their fridge re-gassed in the boat and how they found someone to do it. Car airconditioning systems are commonly re-gassed but not boat fridges??

Make sure its not the fan that has failed first before going any further. However if the gas has leaked It is possible to get a recharge done, but the weight of gas in a small domestic fridge is tiny, even compared to a car and most domestics do not have recharge valve fitted anyway. The agro in finding the leak, repairing it and then recharging means it will be a lot cheaper, quicker and easier to chuck it and fit another.

I suppose I should make clear that chuck it in this case means taking it to an approved local council waste recyling centre. Safer to assume F gas regs and WEE apply.

Thanks. I have checked the fan and it is OK. If it has lasted 5 years, I assumed the leak must be very small - however it could have recently developed I suppose. I will talk to Penguin tomorrow.

I'll add a positive note about Penguin too.... my fridge packed up recently, and they were extremely helpful in getting it sorted....

Our fridge had a small leak from the connectors - we hadn't tightened it up enough - & it took about 2 years to become obvious. A quick recharge was effective - after tightening up the joints. Can't help about engineers on S Coast; ours was fixed in Holland; cost euro30 iirr including call out.
