Hi guys, got one of these, it's great and has be ultra reliable. I serviced it myself last year, it's only a year old.
Last week when putting it back into the boat hold I noticed that when turning the prop by hand it would squeak further up the shaft. I "think" it's the clutch, given that this motor has a centrifugal clutch. Anyone know if this is common? It sounds like it's coming from just below the engine itself and it's where I would think the clutch mechanism is.
Cheers T

That is where the clutch mech is ... not tried turning the prop by hand and listening hard - is it loud?

Well, not really loud, but you can hear it squeaking away if you turn the prop..

Does it go - Squeek - Squeek - ?
or .. squeek squeek squeek squeek squeek. ??
If the first.. you are running it too slow.

OK, well, if I turn it slowly but constantly it's a contineous squeak. If I turn it a bit fast, flick it so to speak, the squeak goes. There is also a clunk clunk clunk that is going with the squeak. Maybe this is just normal and I've never noticed it before? T
